In this age of the Water Cooler, the days of the dinky water fountain seem a distant memory. When you compare the slick sophistication of the water cooler to that of the less-than-glamorous fountain, there appears to be no contest. Remember the days of bending over the pitiful drips of water ejecting from the fountain’s nozzle, the awkward bend of the head to try and catch those vital drops, the inevitable water residues trickling down the corners of the mouth. You’d often get splashes down the front of your blouse or shirt and be forced to hurriedly wipe at the damp patch. No, there was nothing glamorous about the water fountain. Compare this to the simple grace of sliding out a cup from a cup dispenser, placing it delicately under the easily-manoeuvrable taps and sipping daintily whilst discussing such important topics as the state of the world’s economy, and the Palestinian/ Israeli conflict. Good luck trying to do this with your head stuck in the basin of a water fountain.
