Training Employees: What Works And What Doesn’t

Last year I attended a management training seminar withe the title “Training Employees: What Works And What Doesn’t“. After the introductions the question was posed to the attendees. Remember that these were all people already working at the management level and from a wide varietyof work environments. Some said that for entry level employees OJT (on the job training) was the only way. Others stated the need for classroom type training, and some said it depended on the type of job being trained for. In the end it was determined that “What works” is a trainee that really wants to learn and “What Doesn’t” is a trainee that doesn’t want to learn.
