I am a college student. I am majoring in nursing. Each week, after I care for patients during my clinical rotations, I have to do a report on a disease, disorder, or condition that one of my patients had. I am doing research on diabetes facts. One of my patients from this week was a diabetic. She was not checking her blood sugar levels, and her diabetes was out of control. It led to the need for her leg to be amputated. I took care of her in the post surgical unit of the hospital. I am doing my report on the importance of monitoring your blood sugar levels and the complications that can arise when you do not.
