Modular housing sometimes gets a bad rap, being compared as similar to manufactured, or, mobile homes. However, modular housing doesn’t look anything like a mobile home, and is very high quality. In fact, in some ways a Modular Home is even sturdier than a stick built home. For example, modular housing is constructed with up to 30% more lumber than a stick built home and so has a stronger frame. Modular housing, then, is far superior to a manufactured, or, mobile home. By comparison, a manufactured home is built with an irremovable steel chassis, or frame, and is not necessarily built on a permanent foundation. By contrast, modular housing has the same type of frame and foundation as a stick built home.
