I am trying to decide which satellite television service provider to choose. Because I like to watch pay per view movies or movies on demand with my current cable service provider, I am comparing prices on pay per view services between Dish Network vs Direct TV. I was also wondering why I must have a local phone line connected to my satellite television receiver in order to receive pay per view programs. As I currently do not subscribe to local telephone service, I do not want to have to do so just for the occasional pay per view program I might want to watch.
